After a couple weeks of lurking I thought I would quickly say hi and introduce myself. I've been a Mac user for a couple years now and recently purchased a couple Mini's to play with. One is going in the kitchen and the other will be used as a file/media server.
First thing I did was run some Xbench benchmarks
1.5Ghz/512MB/64MBvid
48.85 - external firewire HD
43.91 - internal HD
1.25Ghz/256MB/32MBvid
37.60 - internal HD
41.18 - external firewire HD
I'm currently booting the 1.5 off a firewire drive and have a gig of memory on it's way. The 1.5 will get the 1 gig and I'll move the 512 into the 1.25.
So far I love this little computer

Very Nice and Welcome to the group!!!!
What will the Mini in the Kithen be used for? And could you post some pictures of the Kitchen set up? I am always interested in seeing the different ways that people use the Mini. _________________ 13' Macbook 2.0ghz C2D w/2gb RAM and 120gb HD

I do a lot of cooking and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It will be used mostly for recipes and cooking related surfing... I know I'll also use it to keep up on a couple forums I post on (while cooking) and am wiring it into the kitchens speaker system (roof mounted speakers) so will have complete access to my Itunes library.
I don't have any pictures yet, still waiting for a 20" ACD to arrive. Once everything is in place, I'll snap and post a few.
