Ok, so I purchased my 3rd Mac today. Saw an iBook on Craigs List. It's a G4 800 MHz. 1 GB of Ram, 30 GB HD, Airport, Tiger & Leopard Discs. I had a little problem with a Password but I did the old Erase & Install of Tiger & it's good to go now. I know you guys are laughing since it's 2009 & I bought a 2003 MAC. But I just needed something to Surf the Internet & check email. I think it was a good choice. It seems good so far, the only complaint I have is the battery. It went down 25% in 15 Minutes. That means I'm lucky to get a good hour or so. I'll get another battery online I guess.

Hi,
I'm not laughing at all. I'm still using a 2002 G3/500 model that has been running 24/7 ever since. It's had a new battery, a new mains transformer, an 80 Gb HD, and a new LCD back-light driver card ($29 complete with labor) and it's still going strong...
Among other things it's used as the office fax and it's networked with the rest of the machines and printers.
You can get them second hand here in Bangkok for about $90.

Dino,

I've had several G4 iBooks, and I think they are nice little laptops.

What size is yours? I had both a 15" and a 12". I think the 12" version was like the original netbook: very small and portable, yet can be used as a full function computer.

Your lucky to have any charge at all on a battery that old. I replaced the batteries on both of the ones that I had. Bought the batteries on eBay for $40 to $50.

Have fun with it.

Thanks guys. Yea I'm really likin' it. For what I'm using it for, it sure beats my old Dell P2. Yes, of course the guy claimed the Battery lasts 2 hours but what can you do? Yes I will pickup a Battery on ebay. $60 is a decent price. How long does a new battery last ?

Hey don't knock it.

I have a G3 pismo powerbook running tiger and it works perfect for just online use and classic games.

You would be amazed what you can do with a old powerbook and ibooks

I have since found yet another iBook but this time a G3 & one that is not working.
I bought it for Parts & to tinker with but the Battery lasts 3 hours so, so basically I bought it for the Battery. The iBook won't boot. I think it's the old Logic Board problem. Tried the Candle Fix & almost set the entire thing on fire. But like I said, the Battery was worth 50 Bucks.
