Google Releases Picasa for Mac Beta
Monday, January 5, 2009
Posted by: Fran
Google today announced the release of the Picasa for Mac beta. The free software lets users organize, edit and share their photos. Users can also turn their photos into movies, collages, slideshows and more. The Mac edition was also designed to play nicely with iPhoto. It will automatically import pictures from your iPhoto library and more. And the good news doesn't stop there, Google plans to add geotagging and webcam capture down the road. The Picasa for Mac beta requires OS X 10.4 or later and an Intel-based Mac.

Believe it or not, this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to my wife switching to the Mac. She is such a big fan of Picasa. That being said, I don't know the major differences between the Windows and Mac version. Anyone care to shine a light on that? I'm an iPhoto user. |

I hope Chrome is next!
I'm having a small problem with Picasa though. My picture icons look all blurry and jagged. I wonder if this is an issue with the GMA950? |

What's that? (I really don't know) |
It's a really sweet (not to mention super fast) browser from Google based on Webkit.

| I second bringing Chrome over to the Mac. It's the default browser on my PC now. I would probably go with it over Safari on the Mac too. It's also cool to see Picasa come over. I'm not really a user, but it's nice to have a viable alternative to iPhoto. |

I'm glad Google finally released Picasa for the Mac, but it needs a little more Mac UI flare. JMHO _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

I just had a small update for Picasa pop up.
Version 3.0.1
- Fixed a crash when right-clicking on a photo
- Improved handling of network failures during upload
I noticed the right-click bug a couple times. |

Cool i am glad to finally see this come to mac!!!
But i still have issues with pictures looking jagged and pixelation issues.
I have tried this on both my friends macbooks and ended up with the same result.
Hopefully before the final version this will be worked out. |

Ok my picasa started to update itself and started downloading Adult entertainment.
Does that mean someone is sharing this because none of this garbage is on my computer. |
