I installed Tiger on my iMac G3. All went fine & it runs great. Only problem is, when I was doing the Install I noticed the Screen was Grey & Grainy. No Colors. I figured it would fix the Display after the Install & Restart. I was wrong. In display preferences, it is set to 800 X 600 256 Colors permanently. I have no option to change it to anything else. Before the upgrade, running OS9.2, I was at 1024 X 768 Millions of Colors. The display chip is ATI Rage 128vr. I did updates thinking it would install Display Updates but it has not. I went online searching for the Display Driver but I could not find a Mac Version. Any ideas ? Thanks.

It looks like I found the answer.
I erased OS9.2 in Disc Utility & with that, also went my 4.1.9 Firmware Update needed in order to upgrade to Tiger. I did not realize I should have kept OS9 ! Another Big Mistake! Maybe I'm learning. Yea Right!! Smile

"The problem
On most CRT iMacs (especially the slot-loading CD/DVD models) it is
essential to upgrade the computer’s firmware before even attempting to
install OS X 10.2.x or higher (see this link on the Apple website).
Unfortunately the Panther documentation and the “read me” file on the
installation CD do not make this clear. In fact, the “read me” file may
make you think that it is safe to run the OS X installer as a way of finding
out if you need to upgrade the firmware. Don’t do it! But there again, if
you are reading this then it is probably too late to say that! Strangely,
there have also been reports of Panther installing successfully on iMacs
which don’t have the correct firmware – this shouldn’t happen. However,
the iMac may – a few months later perhaps – subsequently display the
tell-tale symptoms and stop working.
We don’t know what proportion of iMac (CRT)s are affected, but what is
clear is that many have been adversely affected by an encounter with the
OS X 10.2 or higher install CD."

Now I guess I'll need OS9 Discs. X%$&

Solution: Upgrade Tiger to 10.4.1

Mission Accomplished!

I also would like to add, that I found this fix just by trying it. So I don't want to pat myself on the back or nothing but perseverance pays off. Smile
