What a bummer! I sort of doubt anything big will be announced at Macworld now. |

| I can understand not wanting to do Macworld anymore, but Steve should have gone out with a bang. I bet they just don't have anything major to announce. That's all I can think of at the moment. I mean unless Steve Jobs is truly sick. I kinda doubt that though. |

Fingers and toes crossed!
I actually think things are falling into place nicely for a Mac mini update at Macworld. |

There is still WWDC and other special events for Apple to stream and announce one more thing.
I can't find it now, but it is my understanding that the Stevenotes will continue at those events.
Schiller better have some charisma! Or Steve's RDF generator!

iPhones my friend. iPods jumped the shark about a year ago.

Apple Town Hall will probably get quite the workout in 2009. WWDC ain't going anywhere either. Especially with Snow Leopard coming and them pushing for more quality iPhone apps.

Yeah, I have three bits of advice for Mr. Schiller.
1. Take it easy on the Christmas cookies.
2. Wear a black turtleneck, washed out jeans and silver New Balance shoes.
3. Say "boom" at every opportunity. |

No, I meant iPods.
Their Infernal Master, would never trust them with iPhones...
They'd spend all their time chatting to babes, instead of getting on with the job at hand...
Hmmmm
Now that I think of it, iPods are too distracting as well...
Maybe his infernal highness will just hand out Zunes...

Akamai!
They'll probably take place on campus or at the Moscone Center. Apple will be in control of everything. Just the way they like it. |

Apple has no large event room on campus though do they? I think their largest seats maybe a few hundred. They would be foolish to downsize WWDC. I would say the developers are more important than the users. If a platforms apps suck then the platform sucks. They need to keep the developers involved.. all of them.
Moscone is where it must stay. |

Apple has used the "Town Hall" auditorium on their campus for a couple of press events. I think it sits around 300 or so. Here's a 360-degree view.

I think that's exactly what Apple is trying to do. They can also save money by doing smaller events on their own. It's not like Apple doesn't get enough free PR anyways. The company that I work for would love to have Apple's level of free PR. I wouldn't like it though. I would most assuredly be out of a job working on POP stuff. As for the health and well-being of Steve Jobs, I think that is pure speculation at this time. I wish him well though. |
I also read on the WSJ that Apple likes to be in control of their events, at Macworld they can't be the control freak they want to be (I mean that in a nice way). If they do host their own events, I'm sure that those that care would attend, it would get coverage from tech sources; and like many of you have mentioned, it might mean Apple will improve their stuff at the right time rather than having to wait for a big event. |
