I see my iMac DV G3 (Slot Loading) has a place for an Airport Card. It also has Software loaded for an Airport Card. What model number Airport Card do I need & would this Model require an Airport Card Adaptor as well ? I see a lot of these Airport Cards for $30. on CraigsList, so if it would work without needing the Adaptor & I can just find the right card for this iMac, that would be great. Thanks in advance! _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

You need the old one - 802.11b, credit-card sized Airport card. The slot-loaders also need the adaptor. Here's the Knowledge Base article:

Thank you. I guess I can only put in "B" & not "G". I'm not familiar with the speed of "B". I know it's not as fast and the range distance is not as good as a "G" card. No "N" support ? Just Kidding!! _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

B is 11 mbit/s maximum. It is well enough for the computer to browse web anyway, but moving data between computers becomes a major pain. _________________ Wojtek |

hwojtek.
thanks again. So I guess "B" will be sufficient for surfing the net & checking email. Cool.

Absolutely. I used the original AirPort card for years in my old iMac G3/400 and it is plenty fast for anything other than downloading huge files like Leopard upgrades. _________________ Mini 1: 2.3 ghz Core i5; 8 gb RAM, Corsair 240gb SSD, 500 gb Seagate XT
