Mac Mini iPod Dock?
Tuesday March 1, 2005
Leo Bodnar who recently posted information on overclocking the Mac mini has posted yet another intriguing story entitled "Apple Mac mini designed with iPod dock?" He speculates that an unpopulated connector he’s found may imply that Apple had intended to integrate an iPod dock on top of Mac mini's case. In fact there were rumors before the Mac mini was introduced at Macworld Expo San Francisco that a ‘Headless iMac” would include some sort of intergraded iPod dock. Leo's find may be the first real evidence that an intergraded iPod dock was to be included in the Mac mini or may hint at things to come down the road.
Leo Bodnar - "I have noticed a missing unpopulated connector on a vertical CD/HDD interconnect board. There are also a few components that were left out during assembly. There is surprisingly big (by mini standards) empty space around that area inside the mini case.
Connector has a full Firewire bus and extra control signals on it. What could it be? Integrated iPod dock at the top of Mac mini case? Interface to some other external device? Missing internal module? Extra row of external connectors on the back?
And most of all, has it been abandoned at the last minute or still being developed? Or is it waiting for its device to become ready?"
