I wish Apple would follow this policy, Hackers -- but they don't. If Apple weren't building down to a price, they wouldn't have axed all the (more expensive) matte displays in the MacBook range. They wouldn't have (inexplicably) removed FW from the latest MacBooks. They wouldn't ask MacBook owners to pay extra for an IR remote control. |
Lest we forget the entirely new way of production for the ALUMINUM case (BTW, something many users wanted) and entirely new glass trackpad with gestures (BTW, something many users wanted) faster graphics (BTW, something many users wanted.) It's funny how people seem to forget that the small amount of people around us are NOT the general populous. Yes, even a poll right here on 123MM means nothing. It's heavily biased simply for the fact we are all here for one purpose, to praise a single Apple product. Now, Johnnyboy, had you posted results of a poll you took while "pounding the ground" on foot and polled a heavily diverse group of people from varying backgrounds, I may concur, until then........

I think that HP and Dell fit glossy displays because they're in a continuous price war and glossy TN panels are cheap. Why have Apple followed suit? I don't know. If we believe Jobs' BS, then it's not on price grounds. I can only assume that Steve likes glossy displays, so we all have to like glossy displays... |
Again, I'm sure Apple listens intently to it's customers. If the majority of them like glossy displays or have no opinion about them, why continue with matte? I've said repeatedly that I have NO issue with my glossy display at all, I'm sure there are many more people with my same opinion.
Really people, do you think Steve Jobs or Apple as a whole really intends to build and sell products that, well, won't sell?!!?! They have made changes in products that the MAJORITY of people wanted, fully understanding you can't satisfy EVERYONE. The proof of this is the ever increasing sales of their notebooks and desktops..... For me and I presume ole' "Stevie boy" that is quite sufficient to stay the course..... _________________ Automotive Digital Marketing

Quite true. Also don't forget that Apple changes things in somewhat drastic ways to be ahead of the curve with new changes in the market (or sometimes usher in those changes themselves). Remember when they dropped ADB and Serial ports for USB? Remember when the floppy drive was eliminated? TONS of backlash from the noisy minority about those changes, but now with hindsight, they were good, smart moves. |

If only our government were so sufficient to have such money in the bank with zero debt...
Think about how strong our economy would be!
