The Perian team has announced the release of Perian 1.1.2, an update to their popular QuickTime component for Mac OS X. Key improvements in this release include:
- Fixed update checker never running - this version requires a manual install
- Enabled frame-dropping on AppleTV
- Fixed some frames being lost in AVCHD/.mp4 with newer versions of QuickTime
- Fixed another ffmpeg crash on G3s
Perian 1.1.2 weighs in at 2.6MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later.

I don't have a Mac yet (can't decide between Mini or Macbook), but do you need to have Perian installed to play DivX and MKV files in Plex? Sorry for the newbie question. |

| You could just load VLC player, That will grind thru nearly any file format. |
