So let me play devils advocate here:

My Macbook with it's glossy screen has posed no issues. If I get a glare, I readjust the position and viola' it's gone.

The Macbook being the "best seller" for Apple, it makes sense to make the upgrades they made. Glossy screens for Macbook's have been the status quo so any current owners that have been praising the little machine won't soon stop when they hear the new one is the same.

The only thing I'm a bit dissappointed about is the lack of FW of any kind on the Macbook and only FW 800 on the Pro. Other than that, I see all the new releases as home runs.....

I can't wait to plunk down a bunch of cash for a "few" new machines....

Ahhh... and the "Mini waiters" will have to continue to wait.....

I'm sure that thread is about ready to explode or implode one of the two...

At least that can be overcome on the Pro by using an 800 to 400 cable. Skipping it on the MacBook is just crazy. I don't know what Apple was thinking.

I can't say I'm overly impressed with the new pricing and it might end up being a bit of an own goal, scaring off some potential switchers. The White Macbook looks oddly placed now as well and might not attract the people put off by the price of the aluminium one. I know I wouldn't buy the white one now.

Have you seen the video of the new macbook? The reflections on the screen is going to worry a lot of people and the video really makes it noticeable. Sad

The glossy screen on the MacBook was one of the biggest reasons why I upgraded to the MacBook Pro. The younger kids may like the glossy screens, but they just don't seem to agree with my older eyes. I will hold out judgment until I see one of the new MacBook Pros in person, but where do I go from here if this thing breaks down. Not good, not good.

I'm trying hard to decode your second sentence. Wink

It really was stupid of Apple. Not to mention being inconsiderate of their user base, which happens to own a lot of external firewire hard drives.

I think Apple had to leave it in place for the education market. I can't picture a lot of schools buying either of these new models, especially in rough economic times. Truth be told, that's probably why the Mac mini isn't going anywhere either.
