I want to install Diablo II on my Asus Eee PC (running Windows XP). It works just fine when I run the game with my external DVD drive connected. However, I want to play this game while on the road and I do not want to pack an external drive around. The game does not allow me to do a full install. It still requires a CD to be in the drive to play the game.
I remember once upon a time there was a commercial application for Windows that allowed you to copy exact images of disks to the hard drive. You could then install the program from those image thus eliminating the need for the CD/DVDs thereafter.
I've been removed from Windows (at the consumer level) for so long, that I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to buy software if XP now has this ability. If not, I hope there is freeware available. I Google searched but didn't have any luck. |

Thanks a lot Aqua. Very useful links. After playing around for a bit with no sucess, I found a method to play Diablo II without the disks and it is supported by Blizzard. Simply do a full install of Diablo II (which I already did). Then copy a file from the "Play Disk" called D2MUSIC.MPQ into the Diablo directory on the C: drive.
Works like a charm. |
