OK, "create a closed network" is turning SSID off.
Is "create an extended network turning on SSID? If not, where is the enable box located and what does it say? |

They aren't one in the same. I'm pretty sure you can extend without broadcasting the SSID.
To extend -> AirPort Utilty -> Manual Setup -> AirPort -> Wireless -> Allow this network to be extended.
To close -> AirPort Utilty -> Manual Setup -> AirPort -> Wireless -> Wireless Options -> Create a closed network.

Aha!!!! "Wireless Options"....that's the button I forgot about!
Yeah, I really didn't believe that Apple would write the program to change the dialog depending on whether the ssid was turned on or off.
THANKS, AQUAMAN!!! |

| No problem. It took me a little while to learn my way around the AirPort Utility. I just got an AirPort Extreme along with a MacBook Pro a few months ago. I was a Belkin man before that. |
