Hey guys -
I've noticed quite a few news announcements on the front page regarding updates to existing software products, where I have no idea what the base product is for. I think if you could put a couple of words in the first paragraph about what the thing is, it would make the stories a bit more significant and interesting.

Most of them deal with popular or new software, but we'll try to do better going forward.
That being said, we tend to start them off like:
"The Camino Project today announced the release of Camino 1.6.3, a maintenance release of their web browser for Mac OS X."
"The Transmission Project has announced the release of Transmission 1.30, a new version of their popular open-source BitTorrent client."
Or with a personal touch like this:
"The Remote for the iPhone and iPod touch is a great application. But, as many of you know, it will not control Front Row. Enter DVDmote from jbrink.net. It will let you control the DVD Player and Front Row from your iPhone or iPod touch."
Based on what you are saying, how can they be improved?

I think the references you mentioned were all good - I just feel (right or wrong as I may be) that a lot of them don't have that identifying information; like the most recent item:

I don't know what RapidWeaver is based on that paragraph. You could argue that if I don't already know, then the notice isn't for me, but I would rather determine for myself if a notice isn't relevant to my life and work.
