So if I've been updating all along, do I need that ? I'm at 10.5.3 in Leopard. I just assumed all you have to do is do the updates in the usual manner.

Yeah, that's what I do. Just let "Software Update" work out what's needed and then leave it to do all the nerdy stuff in the background...

Ok Johnnyboy. Thanks. For a second I thought I was doing something wrong. I know there are separate updates available from the Apple Site but I use Auto Update.

I didn't mean that you were doing something wrong. It's really just a personal preference of sorts. It also comes in handy when you have multiple Macs. You can just download the Combo once and then install it on all of your Macs. Plus, you have a hard copy and it allows to upgrade from any pervious version. That being said, the Combo will show up the same in Software Update if you get behind on updates. |
