WD today introduced its new My Book Mirror Edition dual-drive storage systems in capacities of 1TB and 2TB. According to the company, when users store their personal content on a My Book Mirror Edition, their valuable data is automatically mirrored for extra protection - making it easy and economical to benefit from the data redundancy typically found in corporate data centers. This mirroring technology makes the new dual-drive systems an ideal storage solution for photographers, home users and small offices and anyone looking for extra assurance that their data is safe.

| I'd rather have the Studio Edition II for about the same amount of money. You get a quad interface and longer (I think) warranty. |

I have a 1TB Studio Edition, and it's far from noiseless.
But it has a lot of interfaces in the back and cost a lot less than this one.
Also, it's silver, which matches the Mac mini and miniStack.
I do prefer the front display on this model though, the circle on front of mine looks a bit out of place. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

Just from drive noise? I'm thinking they were fanless as well. |

If it's fanless then it's the two 3.5" drives that are making the noise. It's more of a spinning/vibrating noise than fan noise though, so your annoyance level may vary.
All I'm saying is, my Mac mini is a lot more silent than my 1TB drive. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

I have seen those selling in the $250 dollar range. I'm sure this one will be less once it hits the street, but I would rather have the Studio Edition II for the same reason. It would also look nicer sitting next to my Mac mini in silver with the white LED. |
