I have been trying forever to find a shell or Applescript that would do this for me simply and provide and icon so that I could run it. I finally found one that works and I got it working through Automator. I don't currently have any hosting space online, but if anyone wants to provide it or ask for this file, I can send it to you quite easily. I pulled it from MacOSXHints if you want to do it yourself as it's not terribly difficult copying and pasting.
