Equinux has announced the release of MediaCentral 2.8, a new version of their media center software for Mac OS X. New features and improvements in this release include:

- MediaCentral now supports the TubeStick hybrid, the newly announced TV receiver for digital and analog television.
- Now fully compatible with The Tube 2.7.
- MediaCentral now supports Closed Captioning for ATSC, Digital Cable (QAM) and analog devices.
- Supports the new Equinux TV engine with several improvements.
- Improves overall stability and performance.

MediaCentral 2.8 is a free update for registered users. For new users, the price is $29.95.
