I think a chatroom would be a neat add-on to the site. I don't do much chatting, but I would take part in the chats if this were to occur.
Just some thoughts.....
I really would like this... |

It has been discussed a lonnngggg time ago. In fact, even before I became a member.
I think it is a good idea, but as this link I'll give at the bottom, it should only happen on certain occasions.

How about a skype chatroom at a certain time each week or each night - different people can host it. |

| This forum works just like a chatroom if you click "view posts since last visit". |

On every forum I have been on that decided to go with a chatroom the end result was a forum with hardly any posts, it basically kills the forum traffic. People stop posting questions in the forum and instead get quick answers in the chatroom. Long term the forum suffers and user numbers start to dwindle. _________________ Phil

Exactly Bill, and it's all the more of a reason to keep things as they are when people around the planet are asleep at different times. If the forum was effectively replaced by a chatroom, it would be harder for members in Europe to have much interaction with those members in Australia/NZ or on the west coast of the US/Canada.
Down with chatrooms! _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

I would concur also that a chatroom isn't suited to our community here. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

Been there done that, and for those reasons removed all the chat features from our forums. All we use now is the free Hab-la sw for customer support chat on our websites. |
