This was happening in the olde Appleinsider forums...

So much so that a number of staff at insiders, got the sack...

But I am talking ancient history now...

Still... I'll never go back ...due to the number of vile, moronic, cretin members who flame everyone who disagree with them..

The phpBB support is one of the most friendly of the very-large-forums I have ever come across. By contrast, the people on Coppermine (the photo gallery soft we use with our fora) are a snotty lot.

At least Handbrake are using v3.0.x with the forum rules feature I mentioned.
A good move is to make sub-forums.
I'm not sure if v2 can do this.

However, I will say it again, the 123MM forums are great! If you wanna see a horrible forum, go and check the Handbrake forums. Mods ridicule people on a regular basis because the users with questions don't understand something, or didn't search, or whatever. It's pretty gruesome, if you ask me.

Agreed. The moderation at the Handbrake forums seems to be inspired by Stalin. It's ruled with an iron fist.

I understand the need to cut down on the chatter/duplicate questions, but there's polite ways to do that and be just as effective. A car forum I used to frequent would reply to stupid questions with a few links to threads that already covered the issue, tips for using the search engine, then would lock the thread. It was very polite, straightforward, and not insulting. It achieved the same result, with probably less work on the moderators' part, yet kept the forum really clean and organized (too clean and sterile for my tastes, but that's beside the point).
