plays quite well on my 1.4ghz powerpc model (the really old one)
(i played at 1680x1050 with low settings)
on yours, with the new updated graphics chip, dual core etc it will run better by quite a bit. |

Since somebody else bumped this anyway, lol
I am an avid WoW player. I got it installed with all of my mods working and everything a couple nights ago (Specs for my computer in my sig). The performance isnt great, but its most definately playable. Dont expect to be getting 60fps all the time, but a good 30 most of the time.
I did a 25 man raid last night (mt hyjal), and it was definately doable. you might have a bit of lag in the major cities, or if, in a large raid, there are a lot of people casting spells at once, but other than that it plays fine.
Can't wait to see how it plays after I stick another gig of ram in this sucker! _________________ -- Intel Mac Mini, 1.83Ghz C2D 1GB, 80GB, Combo Drive --

quick question here. i've installed the game, now its the patches. ITS A MAJOR HEADACHE. Driving me nuts and I'm thinking of giving up already.
Ok, I've downloaded the first patch using the Downloader, its 486 MBs or something. That got done, and after that i have to download another patch 424MBs. After that, Now its trying to download this huge ass patch, its like 926MB.
Surely there's an easier way to do this? the downloader is abit slow so i might have to resort to using the link provided above. But does everybody have to go through this after a clean install? I mean its fair enough to download a patch or two, but this is ridculous. Isnt there just one patch that will solve everything? instead of having patch after patch after patch. Let me know asap. Thanks' _________________ 8G Iphone

With the game having been out for so long there are 5 or 6 big patches consecutively you will need to download, especially if you have older game discs. _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

just get the large 1.00 -> 2.04 patch (its about 1.4gig or so)
that will patch the first ever retail disk right up to current.
saves getting them bit by bit. |

Yeah, there are some major patches that you're going to be downloading, only 3 big ones.
1.x --> 1.12
1.12 --> 2.3
2.3 --> 2.4
Took me a bout a day in a half of casual updating, probably a good day of straight updates give or take depending on your connection _________________ -- Intel Mac Mini, 1.83Ghz C2D 1GB, 80GB, Combo Drive --

Thanks for the advice guys. Connection here seems slow, especially before i had changed my router settings as advised by blizzard. It was a biatch downloading anything with downloader, but now all seems fine. My bad ass update should be done in a couple of hours.
Maybe then I can take a sneak peak at the game i left behind like 2 years ago. lol! _________________ 8G Iphone

You think 900 megs is bad for a download.
If you have the 15 day trial account for WOW the stupid first update is 35 gig's
Talk about insane. |

The update is large because the trial disk is on the original launch version of 1.0 and has to update to the latest patch installing all of the patches at once.
And you have to also remember this is a trial edition not the full game so the update scale may work different. |
