I need to run 75' of Cat6. I want face plates on each end, wall mounted. Does anyone have any sources of "how to's" for the connections? I'm also looking for a online place to order all the necessary parts. There seems to be tons of different parts and accessories available. Loadbars, modular plugs, keystone jacks ect. Where do I start?

I picked up a huge spool of Cat 5e, a crimper, and some RJ-45 connectors from Fry's long ago. Home Depot carries the RJ-45 wall panels in several varieties.

As far as how-to's you can Google for them. Here are a few I found:

http://www.lanshack.com/make-cat5e.aspx

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6_cable

Hope this helps.

I just bought a couple 50' Cat 6 500MHz cables from Monoprice when we moved into our new house. They also have the rest of the stuff you are looking for Tony. Not to mention, at a pretty good price.

That's where I was looking to buy. I've had good luck with them in the past. I think I'm going with the in-line coupler that attaches to the keystone wall plate. That way I can use factory terminated cables and eliminate crimping or screwing up tool-less connectors. So far my project is at about $30.

I can crimp them, but went the same route. The Monoprice cables are snagless so you can pull them around anywhere without messing up the plugs/heads. Your holes need to be a little bigger though. The plastic boot definitely makes them fatter.

I bought a few Rosewill Cat-6 cables when I got my AEBS. They are really nice for the money. In fact, the prices on Newegg were lower than MonoPrice in most cases. I also did better with shipping.

Here they are in black. They also have them in colors if that is important to you.

7ft = $2.99

14ft = $3.99

25ft = $4.59

50ft = $6.89

75ft = $10.99

generally the modules you use for the face plates will be colour coded - no need for a how to then just punch down the right colours.

Those prices are really cheap Scooper. I didn't even to think about Newegg.
