It appears his weibetech external (3.5") drive may be sending power out over firewire from the external ac adapter, which may have caused this. The reason he thinks this may be the case is because something similar happened to his TVR when he daisy chained this drive off of it.
I should be getting mine soon so I'll report on how it works for me and with all my peripherals. |

External Firewire Drive (3.5" w/ external power)
iSight
USB card reader
USB Keyboard/mouse
Had it all hooked up, turned my head and POW. Smoke started pouring out of it and the house now smells like burnt IC's. I yanked everything out as quick as possible... I also had the power plugged into the hub. Who knows what caused it. |

| I may be reaching, here... but bubba, do you and your friend live in the same building by any chance? It could be mildly dirty power, and the hub may just have cheap-o or nonexistent surge protection. |

| The Keyspan Remote is okay in the living room with an Airport Express... somewhat limited functionality... You need to be sure that iTunes is set to use the AE speakers, and you have to blindly navigate between songs. Be careful of the (*) key as this changes your playlist!!! You may end up hitting it a bunch of times to get back to the correct playlist again. |

This is something I should expect coming from Apple! Very nice, I wish I saw it before! (before I bought an external FW enclosure, with HD, and some USB hubs) But can't find it in my neck of the woods anyway... _________________ take care,
