Hi,

Currently I have the DVI output of my Mini connected to a monitor, and the line output to the sub of my speakers (at my desk).

I want to be able to easily swap this at will though so that sound and video comes through my TV.

What's the best way to do this?

I know you can get the Apple DVI to Composite adapter, but I don't want to mess about with changing wires around when I simply wish to watch a movie on my TV.

Ideally I want something switchable so that I can change both the video and sounds outputs to the TV.

For the sound I am thinking I could use this combination (it wouldn't need to be switchable, as I could turn my speakers off, and only have the input selected on the TV when needed):

From the Mini -

To the speakers -

To the TV -

...but I don't really know what to do about the video output. Smile

I bought one of these , which are made to switch between 2 computers (or whatever) on 1 display/audio output, but because they are passive, they will work in the other direction (1 source to 2 displays). I think he finally accepted my offer of $35 for it. Works really good, and I found it to be a simple, inexpensive solution for my needs. I use it to switch the output from my mac mini between my DVI monitor and my LCD projector. Hope that helps!

Thanks! I had seen them but as they were stated to have 2 inputs and 1 output, I didn't realise they would work the other way too!

So, would this work?

Yep, thats exactly it. If it doesn't need to be plugged in, has no remote, and is switched via a mechanical switch inside, then its passively switching the signal, and will have no problems working in the other direction. Mine sits right on top of my mini, so its no hassle to manually switch it when I want to watch a movie on my projector. I also found an applescript that will switch resolution to accomodate the change between my monitor and projector, with a simple keyboard shortcut. If you are interested in that, I will dig up a link to the post that describes how to do it.
