...I hooked up the 200 GB Hitachi HD to make sure it was actually working to my G4 Power Mac. It showed up on the desktop as Easy Drive.

It comes pre-installed with "Total Media Backer"

question 1: since I am planning on using SuperDuper
later when I physically install it inside the MacMini
wouldn't it be best to first remove this from the HD?
Drag it to the trash can? I made a cd backup in case I would later need it.

question 2: another site recommends erasing the HD before putting it into use, so how do you do that without distrubing the HD files?

It looks like you need to keep files named Recycled and System Volume Information?
