Hey all
I upgraded to Tiger today (YAY!). Apparently it needs more than 256MB RAM to work snappy. Anyway, that's not the problem.
You see, I'd organized my /Applications folder into sub-folders. While I kept all Apple software outside, I forgot to keep a few (Mai, Safari and Chess,m for example). Now, I have both the older version and the newer version.
Can I just trash the older ones?
I guess it's not such a good idea putting apps in subfolders when you have Spotlight, eh?
Update: I'd installed DoubleCommand (using a PC keyboard). That doesn't work anymore. Any ideas why?
Also, the installation was disrupted twice due to power failure (once almost at the end, and once when beginning). Now, at root, there's a folder named, "OSInstall.mpkg.102O6sdXq". Is this trashable? _________________ Mac mini - 1.42GHz

It sounds like you got a mess going on here. Why don't you backup your documents and do a clean install. I would feel bad about my installation being interrupted by two power failures. In the OS X Installer when you get to Select Destination hit the options button. Do an Earase and Install instead of an Archive and Install. I think you will be better served doing this in the long run. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

Well, I did resolve the Double Command problem. You're right, maybe I should do a clean install.
I have all the files I downloaded burned on CDs, and can use a network HD for storage for other files.
I'll keep that option open as last resort. Any ideas on those two problem. Double applications and the mpkg thing? Else, it's clean install (although it'll be quite a trouble to load all song in my iTunes Library, GarageBand projects... and the sort).
Thanks for responding _________________ Mac mini - 1.42GHz
