Mac Mini Pro Mod

Hideo Takano has posted some pictures and information about his Mac Mini Pro mod. Actually, Hideo has been working on a series of Mac mini mods, but this one looks to be his masterpiece. He's basically turned the Mac mini into a miniature Mac Pro standing 3.28" wide by 7.8" tall by 6.5" deep. The specs aren't shabby either. It features a 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM and a 500GB 3.5" hard drive. The hard drive actually sits behind a removable side panel. You know, like its big brother, the Mac Pro. And it doesn't stop there. The Mac Mini Pro also features a front-mounted power button and USB port.
You definitely need to check out his website for the rest of the details. It's just an awesome looking mod. Nice job Hideo!

I do have to say, it's very impressive. However, not many people would be willing to open up their Mac mini to make such a mod.
The 3.5" drive alone makes it tempting though.... _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

That was a lot of work. Pretty awesome that he made the case with that much detail. _________________ Core 2 duo 2.0 Mini on a 26" Sharp LC-26GD4U GO CANES!!!! |

I just saw the second link with all the building steps. It's made of ABS plastic, not aluminum... (I guess I'm too used to seeing aluminum everywhere by now).
Still impressive, but I do wonder about the bottom vents of the Mac mini... I know a lot of us are used to having our Mac mini on top of a miniStack or similar, but still, having everything cramped into such a small area, I wonder about the heat. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

| Very cool! There really is a lot of detail in that case. He should start pumping these out. I bet there are a lot of people out there that would be willing to buy one. Maybe even just in kit form. |

I thought that it was aluminum at first glance. He must work as a professional in the plastics industry or something. The detail is incredible. Or maybe he just took the Graduate to heart. Either way, it's a sweet looking mod. |

Okay, since you guys are asking for it... I'll think about something similar, after I'm done with what's currently in the new products line. _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

| That looks rad! I haven't been following the Mac mini modding scene, but is it possible to power a 3.5" SATA drive directly from the Mac mini without using another power source? |
