Lionsgate to release iTunes Digital Copy of films

Lionsgate today announced that it is working with Apple to provide Digital Copy for iTunes, offering customers who purchase select DVDs with an additional iTunes Digital Copy of the movie. Just like movies purchased from the iTunes Store, an iTunes Digital Copy can effortlessly be transferred to iTunes and then viewed on a PC or Mac, iPod with video, iPhone or on widescreen television with Apple TV. Lionsgate is the second studio to announce support for iTunes Digital Copy, joining Twentieth Century Fox, which helped launch the initiative with Apple at Macworld 2008.
The first Lionsgate DVDs to debut with iTunes Digital Copy will be the special edition DVD and Blu-ray releases of "Rambo," the latest installment in the popular action franchise starring Sylvester Stallone and "The Eye," the supernatural thriller starring Jessica Alba. "Rambo" will be available at retail May 27th and "The Eye" will be released on DVD this summer. Lionsgate and Apple will deliver numerous additional Lionsgate films on DVD with iTunes Digital Copy later this year.

| I'm a fan of this idea, so I'm happy to see another movie studio come on board. I just hope they keep they video quality up. From what I've read, the video quality of the first Family Guy release was really good. |

I'm against DRM in most circumstances, but I actually think this is a good idea too. I mean from a convenience standpoint. That being said, the transfer process was a little buggy with Blue Harvest.

Weird, I didn't have any problems with Blue Harvest here. What kind of bug are you talking about?

The iTunes server wouldn't accept my code from the insert. I tried again like 18 hours later and it worked though.
