|
|
Sorry, I know this is more of a Vista related question, but I wondered if anyone can help!
I've got a new Vista laptop in my house, and I'd like to access the files on it from my Mac.
I set up file sharing on the user folder, but I'm really struggling to access it from my Mac. It doesn't show in Finder, and when I try to connect using smb://{IP}, it prompts for a username and password but as the user account on Vista doesn't have a password, it doesn't work!
I changed the Vista NTLM sessions as mentioned in the following link, with no avail:

I'm sure some of you must have a setup like this, so would I be able to have some help please?
I'm pretty new to Leopard, and very new to Vista... _________________ 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, SuperDrive

if you havent already, you need to go into system preferences, sharing, and make shure, personal file sharing, and windows sharing are turned on.
hope this helps, networking a mac with vista is a bitch

Thanks - I don't have an option for Windows Sharing?!
Only the following:
DVD or CD Sharing
Screen Sharing
File Sharing (Ticked)
Printer Sharing
Web Sharing
Remote Logon
Remote Management
Remote Apple Events
Xgrid Sharing
Internet Sharing
Bluetooth

Hmm I'm getting closer... I disabled 'Password protected sharing', under the Network and Sharing Center in Vista.
Now I can access the folders by going to smb://IP but for some reason I cannot view all of the folders I shared and I can't see the files in them!
Any ideas?
Edit - Sorry! It seems to have worked now - took about 5 minutes or so to update! :/ I think that is all, but no doubt I'll have further questions to ask at some point! _________________ 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, SuperDrive

It's good that you got that sorted out. You might want to download this for your laptop: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html
it will allow easy printer sharing with your laptop to your Mac if you have a printer connected to your Mac. I use it with my desktop PC which is in a network with 4 Macs. _________________ 2.5 GHZ i5 Mac Minu 8Gb Ram
