| Both firefox and safari crash on shockwave sites but only sometimes, animations will start then feeze and my browser will quit. Do I need an update? |

What release are you running?
Someone just posted that a new software update is available for Safari:

You may want to try updating first and see if that resolves your problem.
I'm current on Tiger and Safari and have not experienced any Shockwave or Flash related crashes.
