Still no support for 4:3 TVs... Sad

Don't hold your breath. There's no support because they are not being produced anymore. You may still find some but, moving forward the 4:3 format is dead, no need to be counter productive. . .

Very true. Plus, who doesn't like another excuse to upgrade TVs? Laughing

I'm beginning to think that I might want one of these. Maybe a refurb or used one. I still think the new models are a little overpriced. Apple would probably be smart dropping the price to like $149 in hope of making more money on rentals and other stuff. There is more of a business model now to subsidize a loss on the hardware.

I've been waiting eagerly for movie rental on AppleTV. However, I am disappointed at the constraints imposed as well as the rental fees. At this point, renting movies by mail through Netflix and BB are still as convenient and cheaper than renting movies through iTunes. With a Blu-Ray DVD player, I can get full 1080P video from DVDs, and I can watch or stop watching anytime.

If Apple would rent movies, including HD movies, for $2.50 per movie and give me two weeks to watch, then I'd be a loyal customer. With three little kids and a full time job, there is not much time to watch TV/movies.

Thanks, Apple for AppleTV but no thanks for the movie rental policies.

Actually, the iPods still have 4:3 TV support, and it would only be a matter of adding another setting in the video options of the Apple TV. I find it silly that it supports 480i but not the 4:3 aspect ratio.

For the slew of people like me who updated and lost HDMI sound. Unplug everything- AppleTV, TV or receiver, HDMI cable. Walk away for a few minutes then plug everything back in. Something about the update can shunt the HDMI audio requiring a cold restart.

I've reverted back to 1.1 I'm going to block the ATV from updating itself. The interface is ugly and I'm getting 5-10sec stalls when selecting certain menu items.

I'm getting the same stalls here and there. I also noticed a strange bug with loading HD trailers and podcasts. It goes really slow, but if you immediately back out after 10% and start to play it again, it loads up and starts playing 3-4 times faster. I also hate the way it handles downloads. You have to completely stop browsing other online material while they are downloading, or they just stop. I still like the podcasting section though. That's probably the only reason why I'm keeping 2.0.
