World of WarCraft

So, i bought a Mac Mini the other day on eBay from the guy who is notorious for long waits before shipping http://www.123macmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16588
I cant wait for the mini to get here to try WoW out on it.
I am addicted to world of warcraft (Waldorph is my character name) and am curious to know if anyone else plays WoW on their mini and if so, how does it do, what kind of setting do you guys run it on, and what kind of system and hardware setups do you have?

i think world of warcraft is a cool enough game to warrant its own thread. lol

I used to play WoW just fine with my 1st gen PPC mini (1.42Ghz w/1GB ram). I've also played on a last gen 12" iBook (1.33Ghz w/1.5GB ram) and a 1st gen Macbook (1.83Ghz CD, 2GB ram).

As long as you are ok with ratcheting down the video setting a bit, you shouldn't have any issues.

XP since I have a ZBoard with a WoW: BC layout and ZBoards currently only work in Windows.

I recently loaded up an old trial version of WoW and have been playing it on my mini (see specs below) with no problems at all in OSX. Settings defaulted to medium or high in most cases; it looks terrific (better than I expected the mini to perform, actually) and there is no slowdown at all. The only problem is that I may get addicted to this damn game like everyone else. I can't imagine this game performing any better on my XP Home partition than it does in OX.


Edit: I have all the game files installed on my Western Digital external which is at 7200 rpm. Whether this results in a noticeable difference in performance compared to the 5200 drive on my mini I don't know.

I played WoW for months on my mini, you do have to seriously turn down the graphics on it to make it playable.

If you can live with that then you should be alright, I did hear that the performance of the integrated Intel graphics chipset might be better under Windows due to some recent driver optimizations, but I've weakened and bought one of the new iMacs which plays it very nicely with everything at maximum on OS X
