I've had 3 out forever, though there was a period when I had the 5 out, but that's because I was sick for about two months and couldn't do much.

Right now, we have it organized with 3 profiles. One for me, one for my girlfriend, and one for movies we both want to watch. It's worked out fairly well.

I'm on the 2 at a time plan. It works for me, except when my kid gets on and fills up the queue with her stuff. It also makes a great gift, finally a gift we can give my in-laws that they use, except they want us to downgrade theirs to 1 at a time.

I switched to Blockbuster a while back. I miss the Netflix website and que, but I'm never without a movie or game with Blockbuster because of the in-store trade-ins and coupons. I had the 2 DVD at a time plan with Netflix. I have the same now with Blockbuster.

I previously had the 3 DVD plan. Later cancelled my subscription. My girlfriend has one with Blockbuster. We had both going for a while. Though we use Blockbuster more, due to the in-store trade-ins. Plus the coupons for free game rentals helped a lot. Given that games rentals are up to $8.99 for 5 days Rolling Eyes

On a side note.. anyone find it interesting, the USPS is imposing change on the Netflix mailers?

I read the report from the Postmaster General, and my take on it is that Netflix will roll out some tweaked envelopes to fix the problem. Chances are it won't take much, as the USPS seems to have zero complaints about the envelopes on the outbound. They only seem to have issue about when it's returned from the customer.

I don't see the problem as that big of a deal. I think it will be solved as a simple redesign of some of the features of the envelopes to make them processes easier. Blockbuster, Gamefly and the others will probably soon follow.

I know it is an easy fix. I just find it interesting they basically single out Netflix (floppy edge envelopes). Blockbuster's mailers are much more rigid and might not to be affected by this problem. I've also haven't had any broken discs with Blockbuster, as opposed to the 5 from Netflix (one of the many reasons I've cancelled my account).

Blockbuster here.

I've never received a broken disc from either company. In fact, I would say the ones from Netflix were in better shape. Most of the discs that I receive from Blockbuster (by mail) are scratched up to beat hell. I'm surprised they even play half the time. The ones from the store are always in great shape though.

I've only received one broken disc and 2 went missing altogether from Netflix. They were very accommodating with sending replacements. I do have one issue I've contacted them about. We gave my wife's parents a gift subscription the past two years and when I went on to order this years gift, I noticed that the expiration date was a year from when I purchased it not from the date they redeemed it, It would make sense if you are receiving it as a gift, that the clock begins ticking when you redeem it but that's not how it goes, it seems. If you're planning to give this as a gift, keep that in mind. When I hear back from Netflix on this, I'll post more.

3 at a time here. With no Blockbuster even remotely close, Netflix is GREAT! I normally receive about 9 titles a week. 3 on Monday, 3 on Wednesday and 3 on Friday. For $15 a month, 36 movies a moth... It's waaaayy cheaper than any of my local movie stores.... I've been surprised at the selection as well. (got some old british titles and tons of older movies I can't find locally) Not to mention I can add movies to my queue as soon as they are in theaters!! LOVE IT!!!

Well, I bumped my plan down to two at-a-time. The difference in price between the plans basically bumps two months off my total bill for the year. I should be able to turn movies over just as fast, so I would rather have the extra money in my pocket. It also seems like I've seen every movie out there. Laughing

None of the above. I actually have a plan with Hollywood Video for unlimited movies. My wife and I really enjoy going to the store and looking around. We seem to stay in better touch with all the moves that way. Plus, we only live like a mile away from the store. The people that work there are nice too. They even hold things back for us since we are regulars.

I've been a Netflix member since they had a "regular" rent-and-return policy. Eventually they went to the "at-a-time" model and dragged us with them.

So I've been at 4 at a time since that was the only plan. I guess I'm paying what others pay for 3 at a time these days, so I'm in golden handcuffs on that - if I up- or downgrade I'll loose the grandfather status.

Bobaloo-

I definately recommend giving your kid her own queue - you can throttle her to one at a time and she can't mess with the order of yours. My wife and I have three, one disc at a time for her, one at a time for me, and two at a time for our "joint" queue. I'm switching back to two at a time for me, as I go through them a lot faster, she doesn't like watching TV and I can't think of anything better in life! Embarassed

Thanks barnz, I think I'll do that. Maybe I'll up to the 3 at a time and give her 1 at a time. When she slips in, she moves things up to the top of the queue and then they sit sometimes for weeks.

I'll be giving my in-laws the gift of Netflix again, but I'm waiting until the day before to order it. I've not heard back from them regarding my question of why the gift subscription expires a year from when I purchased it not a year from when they redeemed it.

Hackers, how do you get this turnover? It doesn't seem plausible. . . Confused
If I mail a movie on Monday (My office in Berkeley to Netflix HQ in San Jose, a 40 minute drive) Netflix reports it in on Tuesday, and I should get a replacement on Wednesday. Now in order to get a replacement again on Friday, I need to send the movie I received on Wednesday back the same day. Are you getting AM delivery and PM pickup? Are you able to burn the movie during that single day? Even assuming you've got these advantages in your favor (and good for you if you do!) Don't you actually get the next week's movies on Tuesday? (Although the mail works on Saturday, Netflix doesn't seem to admit that they do).
