Something just occurred to me that would be an ace feature but I've no idea if it's possible:

When an ipod is connected to a computer in it's dock, would be great to have the display of the ipod utilised for itunes. I often listen to music on my mac with the screen off (it's in my living room) and seeing tune information on the ipod would be great - like a mini itunes player.

Probably a long shot but does anyone know of any way of doing this?

I've never seen anyone come up with a feature like that, but it would be pretty cool if someone did.

That's got to be a challenge out there for someone! More I think about it, the more I want it! Would be cool.

If you have an iPod touch or iPhone, this will do the job:

I've never heard of it being possible with other iPods though. This particular software works through wi-fi so other iPods would not support it.

I have a plugin app for my phone that has an simple iTunes interface. It shows the song being played and I can search by artist or genre to choose the next song. All through bluetooth.
When the ipods all have standard wifi this would be a cool feature.

The Apple website talks about the iPod Touch's ability to connect to the web through Wi-fi.

Does this mean it can download tracks from your Mac's iTunes Music folder via AirPort (i.e. without a USB cable)?

No, the touch cannot transfer or sync from the computer via wifi. There are hacks that can get it to work, but it's kludgy. The wifi is really just for browsing. I'd hate to try and sync via wireless, it would take a while with all the podcasts I update.

I think all he's trying to do though is control iTunes on the computer with his iPod, which can be done over wi-fi with the touch or iPhone and certain software I mentioned above.

I was replying to JohnnyBoy, I should have quoted him.
