Can non-US members assume that America is about to host some sort of sporting contest? Smile

I know the Colts are playing at home, but that Pats are machine. Pats by at least two touchdowns.

The gameplay of American Football is one of the things about US sports that is a complete mystery to the Brits.

Other examples include the use of the term "World Series" to describe a baseball contest that only the cities of the US take part in and the reason why Nascar is so popular despite the unimaginatively-shaped oval track.

Still, I'm sure that rugby union and cricket are just as mysterious to American eyes and ears. Smile

The World series also includes Canada, so it represents a very select part of the world Very Happy . Nascar and football never appealed much to me, I wouldn't mind it if there was more world football coverage and ESPN would show more of the FIFA World Cup past the first rounds (where the US gets beat by countries that most Americans have never heard of). Cricket the game seems like something that I would have to read the rules of and watch a few games to understand, and rugby seems about the same way.

Not entirely true. Around me most of the colleges have great support for there Rugby teams...

Cricket on the other hand...you got me! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I don't get Nascar either, it's about as entertaining as watching a tennis match...none for me thanks...to each his own I presume...

If my memory serves me right,
The winner of the yearly "World Series" used to, and maybe still does, get invited to the White House to meet the President of the USA.
That was until the Toronto Blues took the series, then suddenly the invitation wasn't forthcoming.
Please feel free to correct me if my information is wrong.

Soccer and Hockey have a great deal in common, but with one major difference.
In Hockey the players beat the crap out of each other, whereas in soccer it's the fans who do all the fighting. Rolling Eyes

Pats by more than a TD.

This may be the best NFL team I have ever seen. They are on pace to easily break the 1998 Vikings single-season points record and Brady could very well take the single-season TD record from [Peyton] Manning.

This could be the year the 1972 Dolphins leave the champagne corked. Smile
