I wish that I lived close to a store like that. Our local store at the mall is pretty small. It's like a hole in the wall.

I like the MetroCentre (photo) but I doubt whether it could host anything as striking as that store in New York.

One of the benefits of being a resident of NY, great Apple stores. I've been to the other 2 in NYC. The 5th Ave. store is beautiful:

http://www.apple.com/retail/fifthavenue/week/20071202.html It's underground, you enter through the glass box, kind of Torchwood open 24/7 for your Mac pleasure.

but the Soho store is the one:

if ever in NY, do visit. If not one of those, my local Apple store:

http://www.apple.com/retail/waltwhitman/week/20071202.html

where I purchased my MacPro

A sign from a bar near the new store. I saw it on CNET. Smile

Yes it is! Very Happy

Although, the older I get, the more I hate going into the city. Laughing

I know what you mean, but I found it necessary to visit the 5th Ave. store when it opened. I went to my local Apple store in the Walt Whitman Mall for the Leopard release and I've got my t-shirt. For those of you not living in N.Y. you must experience the city at least once.

The 5th Ave. store is like the Mecca, especially for tourists. To be honest though, I like the SoHo store better. I find it to be a little more personal. Did you go the grand opening of the new store?

No I didn't go to the new store opening. I'm trying to figure out which store front it took over. I'll have to look at the address again.

I could be wrong, but I think it was a restaurant with a few smaller shops above.
