Apple has released Aperture 1.5.6 via Mac OS X's Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, this update addresses issues related to performance, improves overall stability, and supports compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Other specific issues addressed in this release include:
- Resolves some minor compatibility issues with iPhoto 7.1, which organizes images by Event rather than Roll.
- Addresses issues related to metadata and sort order when sharing previews with iLife Media Browser.
- Improves reliability of queries based on Import Session.
- Addresses reliability when recovering an Aperture Library from a Vault.
Aperture 1.5.6 requires Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later and Aperture 1.5. The download weighs in at 130.6MB.

I guess the ops are busy with the Leopard launch at a store somewhere...
I just ordered a Mac mini Core 2 Duo/1.83GHz.
Oh, Aperture? Nice to see updates, but I don't use it. |

Great but i hate aperture.
Apple lied to consumers saying that aperture needs 1 gig to run when infact you can run it on 512 megs of ram. |

I don't think Apple lied to consumers, they simply required 1GB. 512MB may actually run the software, but it's not a good experience.
Since OS X has awesome, dynamic virtual memory creating hard RAM requirements is difficult. Any machine can gather as much virtual memory as it needs from the hard drive, however it will be so slow it's a miserable experience.
Chances are likely also, if you're an Aperture customer, you're going to be dealing with large, high quality images, therefore more RAM will make the experience much better. If a consumer can afford Aperture and a nice digital camera, they can afford more RAM. _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external
