First Reviews of Leopard
Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Posted by: Charles
Three early reviews of Mac OS X Leopard are in from the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal. Overall, the reviewers were pretty impressed with the new cat in town. Here are some brief excerpts:
New York Times
David Pogue writes, "Leopard is powerful, polished and carefully conceived. Happy surprises, and very few disappointments, lie around every corner. This Leopard has more than 300 new spots - and most of them are bright ones."
USA Today
Edward Baig writes, "Apple's operating system widens its lead aesthetically and technologically... Leopard is one cool cat."
Wall Street Journal
Walt Mossberg writes, "Leopard isn't a must-have for current Mac owners, but it adds a lot of value. For new Mac buyers, it makes switching even more attractive." Walt also posted a short video review. You can watch it down below.

Doesn't this seem like the longest week ever?
I'm so excited about Leopard. Especially hearing that the Dock has been changed for us side users.
As for these reviews, I thought Walt Mossberg's review was the best of the bunch. The other two were kind of lame. It's a shame they didn't get a copy in the hands of Macworld or Ars. You know they would have done a better job. |

I can't even remember the last time Uncle Walt or David Pogue had something really negative to say about an Apple product. They are also a part of the mass media. Those are the two major reasons why they get their hands on everything first. The real reviews and tests will come in another week or so. I should have my own opinion formed by early Saturday morning. |

Yeah, but that really isn't saying much. So is Tiger, XP and Gutsy Gibbon.
I think Vista is basically a goner. There is a seismic shift going on right now away from Vista and Microsoft doesn't know what to do. They are falling and can't get up! |

I love the way that in the most quiet, measured and objective way, Walt Mossberg slices Vista up with a razor blade. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

Lucky. I assume you ordered directly from Apple. Where did it shipped from? Mine says Schaumburg, IL. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

The FedEx tracking page should have a pickup location. Oh well, it looks like I'll be getting mine a little later than some. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

|
|
Hello all,
This may seem off topic, but the review done by the WSJ reviewer was very good. He mentioned using Fusion with Boot Camp that comes preinstalled with Leopard. Is it possible to use Fusion while having my Ministack as the boot drive for my Mac Mini, connected by firewire? |
