What's the difference between the iPod photo and new color iPod? I can get the 30GB iPod photo on Amazon for $319. That's only ten more dollars for an extra 10GB. Even got a few gift certificates to use. |

Effectively just the badging. The iPod Photo is a color iPod, but with a different name back when they were different lines. Now the iPod Photo and color iPod have merged, effectively, so if it's only $10, get it. I believe that they're both 4G, so they'll be the same hardware on the inside. _________________ Computer Engineer

I believe the new iPods are better, though I'm not sure. I personally don't have a problem with the old 4G iPods (same revision as the iPod Photo) because charging after a full day of work (8-9 hrs) isn't a big deal for me. You could always buy those aftermarket batteries that last longer than any of the iPod ones, anyways. But that's extra cost.
The question is, would you use that extra 10Gb or would it just be nice to have? _________________ Computer Engineer

| I'd rather have the extra 10GB. I found out about this iPod price cut today on Tech Bargains. My 15GB 3G iPod is completely full. I'm getting into Podcasts for the commute to work and need some room to grow. The new $399 60GB is a little too expensive. |

You're downloading tons of podcasts, but you're keeping the old ones on your iPod? Sounds kind of pointless keeping all of your podcasts on your iPod. You can disable their syncing or just delete them after a certain amount of time. I know iTunes can do the former, but I'm not sure about the latter, as I've not hopped on this bandwagon yet. _________________ Computer Engineer

| My music collection is to blame. Got around 7800 songs or so. I don't have that many Podcasts yet, but I'm so sick of taking things on and off and worrying about space. |

Just save up for the 60.
Either that or upgrade the hard drive in your Mini and stick the old one if your iPod. I think I'm going to try that with an iPod that I can find on eBay. That'd be a nice, cheap iPod as I'd get a Mini upgrade out of it. _________________ Computer Engineer

i bought a 30gig ipod photo a week before they released the new 20gig photos...doh! (just like i bought my mini 2 weeks before they revision..double doh!)
my buddy bought the new 20 gig photo and it is essentially the same exact thing as my 30gig photo....battery life is the same (about 12-13 hours), the screens and all the software are the same, casing, etc....its pretty much the same exact thing only i have 10 more gigs of space
if you can find a 30gig photo for cheap somewhere, get it as its practically the same thing as the "new" 20gig revision, just with more space _________________ 1.42 ghz mac mini w/ 1gig ram
