That is always the ten million dollar question with a new release. A smart person would probably wait a couple of days. The problem is, most of us ain't that smart. I'll probably install on Saturday morning. |
Honestly, could things be any worse than 10.4.10 when it first came out?
I'm going make sure that I have good backups and go for a clean install. Having a little excitement is good at my age.

| Well, I have waited a long time for this day. I have been looking to buy a Mac and switch over from the world of Windows for months. The new features in Leopard look really cool. That leads my to my first question. Will all of these features work on a Mac mini or MacBook with their integrated graphic chipsets? |

Of course they'll work with the GM950 graphics card. Apple builds their systems to run well despite your choice of the Mac. I've got a mini and plan on getting Leopard. In fact, I'll probably wait for release day and buy a macbook pro so I dont have to install it. I'm lazy like that. |

Thanks for the reply. I'm mostly interested in the ones dealing with Core Animation. I know they can probably taper things to run on all systems, but will I get the full eye-candy effects? Are there certain requirements like Vista Aero has for example? |

I have been to that page on the US website. Unless I'm missing something, there is no mention of video cards. So does that mean all Macs can handle Core Animation? I could be wrong, but isn't there already a problem with Mac mini and MacBook handling something called Core Image because of the onboard Intel graphics? Sorry for all the questions. I'm new and just a little confused with this particular feature. |

Only the old G4's Mini's could not handle it. _________________ ___________________Jim©

I'm totally thrilled that Leopard is here, but I have to admit that a couple things made me laugh on the 300+ New Features page.
Example number one...

| Will you be able to go into an Apple store on the 26th and purchase a Mac with Leopard preinstalled on it, or have it come with the discs to install it on your own for free? How has this worked in the past? |

| I ordered mine Aug 29, shoot. I'm seeing there are some places that sell it for 109, which still isn't all bad. Anybody with real world experience with this on a 1.83 C2D mini with 1GB ram? |

I wasn't online yesterday, but it looks like they added refurbs to the up-to-date program. That is good news. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)
