I have a feeling that the kind of people that can afford an 8 Core Mac Pro aren't worried about spending another $130 smackers. Apple must know this. Wink Laughing

hmmm....

I don't think they needed another show/event for Leopard. They basically had two WWDC's to give us the dish.

There is a new Movies Widget. Smile

I think they can too, but I also think it's funny that Apple is almost arbitrarily picking and choosing what machines to allow an upgrade to. Why not "all new or Apple-refurbished Macs purchased after 10/1"?

I bought mine Sept 28 so I can't qualify for the Up-to-Date program. Oh well on the other hand I've had 3 additional days to fall in love with my machine. Still - I'll be picking up Leopard at retail.

lol I'm thinking, If i buy a Mini right now, Ill get TIGER + Leopard with it, and I wont open it till after the 26th to find out if the Mac Nano rumour is true. If it is true, I can just simply return the Mac Mini and get the Nano.
Very Happy

I've never kept on top of Macs as much as I do now, so I've never bought an OS on release day:

(1) For something like this, is it generally madly chaotic at all stores selling it i.e. do people camp out or stand in line for hours, or can a person just casually walk into a store and pick up a copy. I'm not talking specifically Apple stores, but any store like a reseller.

(2) Is the first release of an OS generally over buggy to the point its better to wait for a few updates or are they usually 'safe' enough to run without feeling like a beta tester?

Thanks!!!

Well i knew that they would announce it sooner or later lets just hope they don't use digital signatures to build applications or all of are open source apps are junk.

There were small lines at some retailers for Tiger. I don't think that you need to go and stand for hours. I would just order online. You'll have it the same day without standing in line.

That is always the ten million dollar question with a new release. A smart person would probably wait a couple of days. The problem is, most of us ain't that smart. I'll probably install on Saturday morning.

Who the heck would buy a refurb now under those conditions? That doesn't seem like a smart business move if they are truly trying to clear out machines.
