The Transmission Project has announced the availability of Transmission 1.0, a major release of its open-source BitTorrent client. According to the developers, the new version is totally compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. It also features a new "Leopard-like" user interface and updated icon. Other notable features and bug fixes include:
- Port forwarding now performed by MiniUPnP and libnatpmp
- Ability to set global and per-torrent number of connections
- Option to prefer not using encryption
- PEX is now configured globally
- Group labeling, filtering, and sorting
- Statistics window
- Pieces Bar (return of Advanced Bar)
- Display "not available" overlay on the regular bar
- Display remaining time for seeding transfers
- Sort by total activity
- Connectable from the Clutch web interface
- Leopard: Time Machine will ignore incomplete downloads
- Leopard: Fix bug where text fields would reject localized decimal values
- Leopard: Fix bug where bandwidth rates chosen from the action menu would not apply the first time
Transmission 1.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later, but 10.5 or later is strongly recommended. The download weighs in at 2.3MB.
