Hey a friend of mine has a Power PC G4 mac w/ 1GB or RAM and 80 GB HDD with the BT keyboard/mouse. he is giving it to me for 350. is this a good deal. Would this be able to run leopard when it comes out?
Also what ever happened to the core duo refurb units at apple store?? |

| I wouldn't pay more than $300 (I'd try to get it for $250). There is nothing wrong with that system, it is the same as my config. I'd however put the money towards a new machine with Leopard, iLife '08, full warranty etc. |

So would this config as it is, be able to run leopard. I just want a cheap toy to move me out of windows. |

I hear that, $300 is a good price for that. As far as running Leopard I'm not sure.

The official requirements aren't out yet, but this system should meet the minimum requirements as it meets the minimum specs of the developer version.
So to answer your questions. $350 is at least $50 too high, this system "should" be able to run Leopard but with limited functionality. No 64 bit, not core animation and the inability to run Intel only apps.
The only way I would consider putting Leopard on this system is with a family pack license. I just wouldn't put the money into but a stand alone copy of Leopard for this machine. |

I see. well we'll see. just shelled out 400 for an iphone. so i want this max. Use to have the powerbook G4 12 inch back in the day. but my work and everything i use is windows. i'm trying to convert the world to MAC...starting with ME  |

Here is what was just recently reported for Leopard specs:
Instead, Leopard will now require Macs with "an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor." Other system requirements include a DVD drive, built-in FireWire, at least 512MB of RAM (additional recommended), and at least 9GB of hard disk space. |
