The Transmission Project has announced the release of Transmission 0.90, a new version of its open-source BitTorrent client. The biggest news with this release is the addition of encryption support, including an option to ignore unencrypted peers.
Other new features and improvements include:
- Ban peers that send too much bad data
- Only report downloaded, verified good pieces in tracker 'download' field
- Improved compliance with BitTorrent spec
- MSE Tracker Extension support
- Significant rewrite of the libtransmission back-end
- Per-torrent action menu
- Redesigned inspector with additional statistics and ability to be resized vertically in Peers and Files tabs
- Redesigned message log
- Optimizations to decrease memory usage
- Sort and filter by tracker
- Various smaller interface additions and improvements
Transmission 0.90 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. The download weighs in at 1.8MB.

| I really like a lot of things about Transmission, but Azureus does so much better for me speed wise. |

Thank you for encryption support!
Transmission is still the smallest and fastest client for Mac (i.e. it doesn't take up all your CPU like Azureus). |
