Sweet setup though. What mods did you make to the Magnepan speakers? Weren't those like really expensive back in the day?

Cool! Did you just get them?
I'm still sporting the M-Audios Studiophile AV 40s for playing and stuff. |

No. I have had them a couple of years. I have them hooked up to my MacBook through a Presonus Firebox. Outstanding audio. _________________ Mac Book 2.1 Ghz (Penryn) 10.6.7 4Gb DDR2

I'm using the Acer 2.0 USB powered speakers that came with my tower with my Mac for now. The Acer has Logitech's on it. I'll eventually get something decent on it, however this will beat the internal speaker for now. _________________ My cat themed collection:

Oh, okay. I bet that sounds hot. Those are nice speakers man. I was looking at them and some JBL LSR's before getting the ones from M-Audio. I'm not saying they are better, it was just about the money at the time. |

Part of what makes them is the cables that I used. Very short balanced TRS male to XLR male cables. Got the monitors and cables; both, at the Guitar Center. I rarely get to crank them as much as I like but, when I do....wow! _________________ Mac Book 2.1 Ghz (Penryn) 10.6.7 4Gb DDR2

Sweet! I'm going balanced as well coming out of the old Firewire Solo. Wish I could have mine going direct to both speakers though. The AV40 patches from one speaker to the other with regular speaker wire. I think a little something is lost in that transfer. |

As my love of music grew through the years; so, fortunately or unfortunately depending on your view point, did my love of nice sound equipment. _________________ Mac Book 2.1 Ghz (Penryn) 10.6.7 4Gb DDR2

Well, we should most definitely enjoy it while it lasts. That old hearing probably isn't going to last forever. Then again, maybe we'll all be wearing iEars in 15 to 20. Let's rock! |

At least a passion for audio is cheaper than a passion for video and you tend to get much more value. If you bought good audio technology 30 years ago, it's still good today. You sure can't say that for video. |
