I'm not really into gaming much, but I have played Racer before and I like it! Does anyone know if this works okay with a new Mac Mini (I don't have one yet Embarassed ) ? Smile

http://www.racer.nl/

On the Mac OS X page it states one of the requirements is "A 3D card. Software rendering is not fast enough."

The latest downloads are on the Beta page:

Well with some time I've got Racer working pretty good!

Firstly, download the latest 0.5.3 beta 1.5 version at:
http://www.racer.nl/dl_beta.htm

At first the car was uncontrollable, and the fps was around 3-4(!), but these are the tweaks I did to get it up to about 30fps:

Disable joystick in data/controls/default.ini to use the mouse as the controller:

Code:
  joystick
  {
    enable=0

The following are edited in racer.ini:

Turn off rear-view mirror:

Code:
mirrors
{
  simple
  {
    enable=0

Hide the console:

Code:
console
{
  enable=0

Enlarge window:

Code:
resolution
{
  width=1024
  height=768

Change the integration time to 2 - helps with poor frame-rates:

Code:
timing
{
  integration_time=2

Textures to 1/4 quality:

Code:
textures
{
  enable=1
  quality=4

You have to search manually and replace the settings - there are lots of them!

I'm interested if anyone else plays or would like to give the game a go, as hopefully we can share tips/tweaks/settings! Cool
