Thank goodness I have Apple.com set as my homepage. I woke up to check my email over the web and I saw the Might Mouse.
Apple finally came out with a multibutton mouse! It's all touch sensitive. I find the little nipple on top unattractive compared to scrollwheel's, but I guess it matches the seemless division of buttons better than a wheel would. It also scrolls like an eraser head, so you can scroll in any direction. I wish they made a BT version, though. Link to Apple's site for it here. _________________ Computer Engineer

WOW! It even has a speaker (though I think it'll become annoying and will turn it off), but that's awesome! _________________ Gone. |

I couldn't find information on a speaker anywhere.
Too bad this mouse is only fully capable in 10.4.2. I think everyone should be upgraded to that, but it's still not too cool. You can't scroll or switch between applications with it if you're running 10.4.1 or earlier. _________________ Computer Engineer

Just for noises, but the little blurb is here: http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/design.html
it says"
Now Hear This
Mighty Mouse even sounds as good as it feels. The audio feedback built into Mighty Mouse provides an aural sensation that responds to your movements. When you scroll or click, Mighty Mouse produces subtle sound effects based on your actions.

Man, I'm all about tactile feedback. I really don't like how everything is heading away from this. It'll just take getting used to, and removing mechanical systems just improves reliability, but still. I like clicks to actually be from clicking, not from the piezoelectric effect!
Someone on another forums said that this product was a pilot and they would probably release a wireless version later. This sounds right to me, and I really hope they do! I'd be all over it. _________________ Computer Engineer

And it doesn't look particularly ergonomic either. No thanks. _________________ 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Hopefully you can set the sensitivity of the buttons. I'd be afraid of clicking when resting my fingers over the touch-sensitive thing-a-ma-jigs. _________________ Gone. |

Yes, there's a little speaker in the mouse that makes noise when you click or scroll. I ordered mine this morning and didn't even know it was there. I was reading this review tonight and they mentioned it. I was like DOH!!! I need to start reading more and stop looking at the pictures. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

The click itself is not performed by touching those areas, but in old classic style, just with looking in which area you have pressed. Though now you will have to raise the resting finger when clicking. _________________ Mac mini 1,25GHz / 1Gb / 40Gb / Combo |

It'll take some time getting use to, but not as bad as rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time. I'm more worried about some of the early reports about the scroll ball sinking in and not feeling solid. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

OK, newbie question -- where are you reading about other early reports? My "mac" bookmark folder in Firefox doesn't have many links yet. |
