Apple Sells One Millionth iPhone
Monday, September 10, 2007
Posted by: Brian
Apple today announced it sold its one millionth iPhone yesterday, 74 days after its introduction on June 29. "One million iPhones in 74 days -- it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We can't wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season." Apple lowered the price of its most popular iPhone model with 8GB of storage from $599 to $399 last week.

| It would have taken them a whole lot longer if it was still 599... |

Didn't Steve say there had 950K iPhones sold at the 2007-09-05 Keynote?
That means 50K iPhones in about a week, which is the same rate as the average before the price drop (10K iPhones/day).
I only wish they added Mail, Google Maps, etcl to the iPod touch. After all, the iPhone isn't available in Canada, so why should the iPod touch be limited? It's not like I could even buy an iPhone to get those features. |

| I'm sure the price drop increased impulse sales, but I know a few people that were just waiting around to see what the new iPods looked like before buying an iPhone. People like that probably gave them another shot in the arm. |

I wish it had GPS capabilities and Push Email.
That would almost make it an ideal gadget. |

That won't happen. Can you say iPhone killer?
I would be happy enough with email and Google Maps. Apple won't do it though. They are clearing trying to separate the products. |

There are also reports that Apple removed the ability to manually add events in the iPod touch's calendar. It seems like the touch is becoming less PDA like by the minute. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Is there any independent verification? Pardon my skepticism but Apple doesn't usually release information. This announcement seems to be for the purpose of influencing stock prices. _________________ mini20 (C2D 2GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, 200GB HDD, 20in ACD) |

Did you short Apple?
I guess the absolute truth will come out during their next earnings report, but it's not like they need to pump up the old stock price. I think we can take these numbers at face value. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini
