| Ahhhhhh... life is good... Sheesh! I mean, from 60 to 80 Gb hard drive, more ram, faster processor! And all this for the same price as the 1.66 GHz model. Can it get any better?! Curse these whiners that knock me for being happy with these offerings! I think it's smashing! |

There's the fly in the ointment.
* Built-in 54-Mbps AirPort Extreme wireless networking (based on 802.11g standard)
Aaargh.

Yeah, just saw it, but no reason to abandon it. Present situation is not bad. But a € 140/$ 150 upgrade to 2 gb is pretty steep! Oh well, might do that later anyway.. Maybe with an faster and larger HD. _________________ ___________________Jim©

Surprised they kept ATI graphics in iMac, does Apples have contract?
Also now Apple can say they only make 64-bit computers .
Also, FW 800 port on all iMac model, sweet, but 7 watts. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

I enjoyed the Keynote (lamest audience ever though).
The new iMacs are a great deal and they look very nice. So do the new keyboards. With the exception of the wireless N standard it's nice to see the mini has been updated. iLife '08 looks excellent and .Mac is really shaping up.
Like Steve said in the Keynote...Apple is already so much further ahead than everyone else. It's nice to see Apple is still continuing to make improvements to remain in that position. It's also nice to see that Apple is remaining focused on how people use software.
Recognizing that the average user has 1000's of photos and updating iPhoto to better manage large photo libraries is great. I'll personally get a lot of use out of the hiding feature. My main library is getting huge and I tend to primarily use it for viewing photos. Creating numerous albums is a pain. I'm still confused as to what events does, that is so much different than creating albums. Am I the only one?
The way .Mac now deals with photos along with 10GB of space is great. Managing/sharing photos in this manner is going to get a lot more people interested in iPhoto and Macs.
There is quite a bit to discuss in this Keynote because it relates to many things that we use our computers for on a daily basis. This kind of stuff has way more of an impact on me than a processor upgrade. |
