Linksys Wireless G Ethernet Bridge

Afraid I'm another newbie struggling with the jump from GatesWorld to Apple. Bought my Macmini a week ago, not only is it beautiful, it works!!! So impressed that I decided to make it part of my wireless network but it takes months to get the card installed so looked for an alternative solution - hence the Linksys Wireless G Ethernet Bridge (WET54G v2). My problem is not setting up the bridge (that seems easy) but getting the right settings on my mini.

So far I have not succeeded and have ended up with numerous network 'locations'. Two questions, how do I get rid of the unwanted locations and has anyone successfully used this kit (if so can you help with mini setup)?

Any help or pointers gratefully received.

To get rid of extra locations open System Preferences and select network. I nthe locations box click on the arrows and selsect edit locations. Highlight the locations you do not want and delete them.

If you are using DHCP the ethernet card should be set to DHCP and the rest handled by the DHCP server. If that is not working, set a static IP address on the mini. Pick any address outside the DHCP pool and set the DNS Server and the router to your Routers address. If that works then the bridge is not passing DHCP information if it does not work you may not be getting a stong enough wireless signal. If possible, set up the bridge and mini in close proximity to the router as you can to ensure there is good signal strength.

If you still are unable to connect try another computer on the bridge and try connecting the mini with a cable to the main router.

And as always if it is possible to run cables, run cables.
