Let me just say you have one dang purty site. I like the banner most especially. I'm at work so explicity is frowned upon, though I could do most anything here I wanted to....if I wanted to. I'll take a look-see at home and see if I come up with anything.

$5.00 sounds like the perfect amount for a weekly giveaway, as it's a fairly new site.

Also, you may want to make note that these songs are not similar because they are free or independently produced, as that is a given;

I actually think it's a pretty boring design, and will be doing a new layout (hopefully up next week). The headers will remain intact, though. BTW... try reloading a few times. The headers (and color scheme of the site) change randomly. There's three total.

As for the bands being independently produced... you're right... that's a given, but... in a weird way, you're on the right track.
